Thanks for reply Rakss. I tried the steps as mentioned in the links but it didn't work.

Steps followed:

1)Created binary file of type ico and uploaded image.

2) Saved as pyPortalIcon into application ruleset and updated link to app logo.

 3)Cleared the cache
