You can configure two actions:

1. Run activity (which will perform validation)

2. Refresh section (after the first step, error message will be set and the same will be displayed after refresh)

I am not sure about your exact requirement.

If you are concerned with activities then the same thing can be doable using server side validation with  constraint or validation rules.
