External database connectivity - Pega 8.1.3 & MS SQL Server 2017

We are building an application using PRPC version is 8.1.3 running on Pega cloud (Java:1.8)

Requirement: As part of the client requirement, our application needs to integrate with external database MS SQL Server 2017.

Approaches tried: We have tried installing the JDBC jar, created a DSS and restarted the app.

But still getting the same error:

Status Value: In order to connect to a specific external database, the Pega server must be restarted after the jdbc driver jar has been added to the classpath and the jdbc driver class name has been defined in prconfig.xml. e.g. database/drivers="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver;com.sybase.jdbc4.jdbc.sybdriver" : code: 0 SQLState: 08001 Message: No suitable driver DatabaseException caused by prior exception: java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver | SQL Code: 0 | SQL State: 08001

We have tried the above approach with the jar files below.

mssql-jdbc-7.2.2.jre8.jar

sqljdbc42.jar

We are currently blocked, any inputs/solutions/suggestions for the above requirement would be appreciated. Has anyone tried the Pega 8.1.3 & MS SQL Server 2017? Please advice.

Hi, 

As per the platform support guide, with 8.1 MS SQL 2017 is not supported. Its only supported with Pega 8.2.

Hi, We are not hosting the Pega 8.1.3 on MS SQL Server 2017. I guess the support documentation is talking about the compatibility of hosting the Pega 8.x instances. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong and provide any inputs to resolve the issue.

Hi Vamsee,

The document indicates the compatibility of hosting both Pega 8.1.x and Pega 8.2.x instances in which MSSQL 2017 is for 8.2.x and MS SQL 2016 is for 8.1.x. Please let me know in case of any queries.
