Dutch text with UK date format

Hi,

If I need texts in Dutch, and date in UK format (e.g. 01/04/2015) then what should I put in operator locale ?
Also, what to use for vice versa? [English text with Dutch date format (e.g. 01-04-2015)]

Hi,

I think the best possible solution could be is a combination of using language pack / setting locale and edit input.

So , if you want to show your text in Dutch then use Dutch locale and for the date field, use edit input rule to auto convert it to a specific format . ( Refer : https://community.pega.com/sites/default/files/help_v719/procomhelpmain.htm input  )

Hi Santanu,

I already have language pack installed. Let me better explain my requierment.
If I use "en_GB" as operator locale, then texts are in English and dates are of the format "01/04/2016".
And if I use "nl_NL" as locale, then texts are translated to Dutch and dates are in format "01-04-2016".

What I'm trying to figure out, if there's a way to show text in Dutch and dates in format '01/04/2016'.

Also, PRThread offers different constants (LOCALE_FOR_DATES, LOCALE_FOR_MESSAGES) while invoking setLocale method. But if if use 'GB' for LOCALE_FOR_DATES and 'nl' for LOCALE_FOR_MESSAGES, that doesn't seem to work. My observation is LOCALE_FOR_MESSAGES is overriding LOCALE_FOR_DATES.

I think you need to do it via edit input only

Against your date property , define an edit input which can format the input date as per your desired format.

I agree that would work Santanu, but that is not a suitable solution for me. The situation is like this: a user logs in as English user. Then he does a 'switch language'. And it should change only his language, not the date or number format. So my code has to play with the setLocale method.

I am not sure whether this requirement can be met in that way .

One idea could be to use drop down in UI to pick the dates instead of calendar. That way you do not need to think about the formatting.

Otherwise use text property in front end to display the date and at back end you can convert it to datetime property .
