Dropping synonyms before upgrade pega platform
Hi,
In Pega 7.31 upgrade guide , i could see below point,
If your system includes synonyms to Pega-supplied tables, drop the synonyms before you
upgrade. If necessary, reapply the synonyms after the upgrade is complete.
we could see there are many synonyms for external table , not for pega supplied tables
Q1. should we consider dropping all the synonyms for external table as well?
we could see many public synonyms in pega supplied tables
q2. Kindly advise if we should consider public synonyms as well to drop?

In 7.x all Pega generated queries will be schema qualified so there really isn't a need for synonyms anymore and the synonyms can cause issues with the upgrade. If the synonym is not for a Pega table then it should be fine as far as the upgrade is concerned. If the synonyms for these external tables are there for use by the pega application then again they are probably not needed as you can schema qualify any SQL coming from within pega.
