Different Environments in Dev and QA
@Hello,
I have scenario in which Dev and QA environments differ in the application server,
Dev Environment - Tomcat 7.x and MSSQL
QA Environment - JBOSS EAP and MSSQL
What are the possible problems you foresee when the Dev environment code is deployed on QA? Does Pega have any special recommendations or instructions in this kind of scenario?
My PRPC version is 7.2

Hi Kunal,
It is not recommended to use different model , WAR/Tomcat and Webpshere/EAR for the reason to avoid any unforeseen issues in higher environment.
As the tested Dev application on one tech stack advanced to higher environment with same tech stack would not poss any threat.
This is IT standard in general and not related to PRPC application.

If you have followed all the prerequisite data from Platform support guide while installing Pega 7.2 ,there won't be any issue with different application server's used in different environments .
For validating the environment kindly let me know your Application server and Database versions.

Thanks Arun. We are yet to setup the environments and not decided on versions yet.
Just for example, one of the problem I can see is MDB listeners wont work on Tomcat but can be configured for JBOSS.
Is it possible that the application server's own libraries can change PRPC application's behavior? Otherwise we would need to do a exhaustive triage after code deployments.
Hi Kunal,
Application server own libraries won't change PRPC application behavior but if you are using any third part jars and your not importing directly into PRPC then those jars should be placed inside the application server lib directory manually in case of Tomcat and JBoss .
Your right that MDB listeners won't work on Tomcat but it's work on JBOSS ,so in this case kindly let us know why you want to have different Application servers .

I got following in LSA1 transcript,
In theory one could use a different model for each environment (WAR/Tomcat for Dev and QA, WebSphere/EAR for production) but this is not recommended.
But there is no detailed explaination on this.
