Difference between in/out parameter

These questions have been raised a lot of times, but I have difficulties in understanding the help and the forum explanation.

 

Can someone tell in a simple and crisp way?

Generally In is used when you want to pass parameters as input for the rule. out is used when you want to send the parameter as output for the other rule.

But when you use pass current parameter page, even if the parameter is not mentioned as out it will be passed to the other rule.
