Deployment and Validation of Rules
We are looking at options to automate the deployment and validation process for the PEGA applications. We got some links about automating the deployments in PDN. We would like to know more about the validation process that happens post importing the rules in the target environment.
There seems to be a validation tool in path ‘DesignerStudio > Application > Tools > Validation’. Could you please let me know if this is the tool that is used for the validation procedure. If yes could you let us know if there are any command line options to access this tool.
If the above is not the appropriate tool for validation could you let us know what the exact wizard is and if there are any command line options of invoking the same.

Concerning the "Validation" tool, the documentation is saying the following:
Use the Validation tool:
- To identify how changes to some rules will impact other rules that reference those rules. For example, if you delete or change the return type of a rule by running the Validation tool, you will know how many rules became invalid by that change.
- To confirm that rules pass current validation requirements
- After critical changes or milestones, such as:
- Changes to a ruleset list in the application rule
- Changes to a built-on application
- Before lock/export
- After import
- Regularly during development
So yes you can use this tool after an import but I think it is mainly suppose to be used during developement and maintenance stages. The goal is to check the rules and present the potentially broken ones in order to modify them on the fly, I don't believe you can do that with a command line.
Anyway, the import itself is doing some sort of validation already. You can receive error messages during yourimport sometimes.
