The definition of persistence

Hi,

 

Obj-Save does not necessary write object to the database immediately, it is a "request" to write to a database. Later COMMIT operation does actual reflection. I am just curious - when people say "Persistence", does that mean this request part by Obj-Save operation, or, actual reflection (by COMMIT)?
