Decreasing Session timer
I have a requirement to show the remaining time for the session timeout at the bottom of my page. I am new to pega and have no idea on how to implement my requirement. Any detailed explanation is highly appreciated.

Hi,
You can set the timeout setting at Access Group. In advanced tab you can mention the value in seconds.
Instead if you want to set the time out from prconfig.xml, you can use below setting.
<env name="timeout/application" value="xxx in seconds" />
If you want to set browser level time out, use below one
<env name="timeout/browser" value="xxx in seconds" />

Thanks for your input Shekar. Solution you provided doesn't display the countdown timer on the UI does it? I will have to show countdown timer at the bottom of a section.

Hi Sravya,
You can include an OOTB section "pxSessionTimer" in your harness and set the parameters to that section.
Below parameters needs to be set:
1. Timeout after(mins)
2. Warning window(mins)
This shows the session timeout countdown popup on a modal dialog in the middle of the screen.
The position of this can be modified by changing the HTML as this is a non-autogenerated section.

Thanks so much for your inputs. I followed your instructions and added pxSessionTimer section to "Perform" harness and added the required parameters, I still don't see any popups. I am on Pega 7.2. Any ideas?

Can you try giving the session timeout of minimum 3 mins as suggested in the below article:

Also I have tried the same scenario in Pega 7.2 by including the 'pxSessionTimer' section in pzStudio harness, it worked for me. After saving the changes, re-login and verify it.

I tried to add the pxSessionTimer section to pzStudio harness (saved to local ruleset) but it is messing up the developer portal view. Where exactly do we need to add the pxSessionTimer section in pzStudio?
