Declare expression for pagelist within pagelist
Hi Team,
Can we use Declare expression to calculate sum of the property value which is in a pagelist within a pagelist.
For eg: Primary.Pagelist1().Pagelist2().Amount.
I need sum of Amount from all the embedded Pagelist2

@AkkuH I think you could set two declare expressions to achieve the desired result.
Create an integer property in Pagelist1 and a declare expression that is equal to the Sum of .Pagelist2().value For this example, lets call it .PagelistTwoSum, that now lives on the .Pagelist1
Now, create a declare expression that sets your property (in this example, TotalSum) equal to Sum of Pagelist1().PagelistTwoSum
Maybe someone else can speak to performance issues with this as that would be my concern with this though

@bretw I think you can use a Declare Expression in Pega to calculate the sum of a property within a pagelist inside another pagelist. For example, if you have Primary.Pagelist1() containing another pagelist Pagelist2() with the property Amount, you can create a TotalAmount property on the primary page. To calculate the sum, create a new Declare Expression with TotalAmount as the target property. Use the formula @SumOfSum(.Pagelist1, .Pagelist2, .Amount) to sum the Amount values across all instances of Pagelist2 inside every entry of Pagelist1

@Sairohith I don't believe @SumOfSum is an OOTB function included in Pega - would need to create a function with that name with custom java

@bretw You're right! @SumOfSum is not an OOTB function. My understanding is you can still calculate the sum of a property within a pagelist inside another pagelist using a Declare Expression and a combination of looping and existing functions. Create a TotalAmount property at the primary page level and define a Declare Expression for it. Use the @Sum function with a custom logic that iterates through both pagelists. Thanks
