Data Schema Upgrade for Higher Environments
Hi,
We need some kind of advise how we should upgrade data schema in Test/Production environments. We have upgraded our dev environment from pega 7.2.2 to 8.1.1 along with upgrading other strategic applications (for e.g. Customer Service, Sales Automation, Pega Marketing Etc). However while upgrading strategic applications, we have seen several changes to pega data schema as well.
As per our initial plan of upgrading Test environments, we thought of copying upgraded rule schema to other environments and perform in-place upgrade for data schema but how will we incorporate changes for data schema done by strategic applications. Will pega provide all DB scripts in right order?

You can migrate the upgraded rules schema to higher environment and do the data schema only upgrade but then you will need to go through the same steps for upgrading the strategic apps as you did in lower environment. I believe in the deployment guides there is a section that talks about this type of upgrade process.
