Confirm Java Version in Pega for Prepare Cloud 3 Update
Hello,
We would like to confirm the Java version currently being used in our Pega environment. This is to prepare for the upcoming Cloud 3 update.
At present, we are running Pega version 23.1.4, and according to our findings, it is using JDK 11, correct?
If that is the case, then our custom Java functions remain compatible and are working without any issues.
Since this Pega update also supports Java 11, my understanding is that we do not need to explicitly verify whether our existing custom Java functions will be impacted.
Could you please confirm if this understanding is correct?

Hi @PhongH25: Noted that this is Pega Cloud 3 migration and don't have any Platform version upgrade.
In this case, if you can validate the current Java version from System information page (in Dev Studio) and if it is 11, and the target is Pega Cloud 3 which will also use the same Java version, there wouldn't be any impact.
Thanks.

Hi @PhongH25: Infinity '23.x uses Java 11. You can verify the same from System information page (in Dev Studio).
For the latest versions (Infinity '25), the default image will be using Java 17. In future it can be upgraded to Java 21 as it is also a supported version for Infinity '25. You can see the details from platform support guide.
When migrating to Pega Cloud, you will be upgraded to the latest version. In this case it will be Infinity '25 at this moment. With Infinity '25, Java 11 is no longer supported.
Hope this information helps.
Thanks.

Hi @ArulDevan
Thank you for your reply. I was informed that updating Cloud 3 will also update the JDK to version 11, as shown below. We need to confirm whether we have any custom Java code developed with earlier versions. However, since we are already running on JDK 11, this update to Cloud 3 should not have any impact, correct?
>As part of your update to Pega Cloud 3, Pega updates your service to JDK 11. Confirm whether you are using Custom Java code written on a JDK version earlier than JDK 11.
>If so, be aware that Custom Java code written on a JDK version earlier than JDK 11 will need to be refactored after the update to Pega Cloud 3 to be JDK 11 compliant.

Hi @ArulDevan Thank you, I understand now. I’m trying to locate the System Information page in Dev Studio as you instructed, but I haven’t been able to find it. Could you please let me know where it is located ?

Hi @PhongH25: From Dev studio click PEGA link in the bottom right corner (or) click Resources -> About Pega Infinity from Menu bar. This will open up a modal dialog which will show the current version of Platform with a button in it named "System Information" Click the button to see environment related information including Java version used.
Thanks.

I tried clicking on it, but it only shows the Pega version as in the image below, and I don’t see the System Information button. Do I need additional permissions in my access group to view it?

Hi @PhongH25: You need to have "pxViewSystemInfo" Privilege which is part of default SysAdm4 Role. If you have not updated the default Author access group, this should be available to you.
Thanks.

I checked and it seems to be set up normally, but I still can't confirm. I think creating a SR ticket to confirm would be better.
Thank you for your support.
