Case Instance Deletion
I have done the preliminary checking of the 7.1.7 Pega help and PDN, but cannot find how to do this:
I have an application I am working on, and during the normal development, I have created quite a few "throw-away" case instances. When I look at the "Instances of <my case>" screen, I can see these, but there does not seem to be a way to delete some of these. I would like to clean up some of this test data by getting rid of cases that I just initiated with no intent of completing.
Can this be done? Thanks in advance,

Are you just trying to clean up the lists of open items? If so, could you use bulk processing to bulk resolve these items? If driving one through to a resolved state makes it go away, you should look into that. If you're concerned about something like the number of items in the database, then you should look into the purge and archive functionality.

So, where do i find this purge capability? I am looking for it, just can't find it

The Purge/Archive wizard was the first response I got in help when I put "Purge" into the search field of the Index tab. My guess is that's not really what you're looking for in development, but read through. It's probably not a bad thing to know about long term, since you may want it when your product gets to production and volumes increase significantly.

So the article says to go to Designer Studio/System/Tools. I don't have "Tools" in my menu, even though I am set up as an admin user. Where can I find this Tools menu item?

It looks like the path in the help file is out of date. In my Pega 7.1.7 system you can get to the Purge/Archive wizard via Designer Studio > Operations > Purge/Archive.

It may be possible to do but in general we don’t bother deleting actual work objects. You can try using bulk-action to resolve them all so they don’t appear on your work list. /Eric

Where is this "bulk action", Eric? I can't find it in my Designer Studio

Hi,
To get info on bulk processing, I see it here on Pega 7.1.7
? - > Pega 7 Help - > search field - > “bulk” ENTER

But again, when I try to follow the very first step in the help
"
- Select the Process Work gadget on the left navigation panel.
"
I don't see this gadget.
Launch the case manager portal which you learned here Case browser for users
Then to invoke bulk action on your cases select this feature from your operator menu.

Hello Jim,
In order to see “Process Work” on left panel, since the help text was referring to the WorkManager portal, I had to first add that portal (*) to my access group portal list, save the access group, and then launch the portal with the rocket ship menu. Then I was able to see “Process Work” on left panel. /Eric
For some unknown reason, the smar-prompt-dropdown for the access group portal list didn’t show WorkManager as a choice, but I was still able to type it in to the list and save the access group
