Best way to sync data in PEGA from External System
We have a requirement where PEGA is getting events from External system Based on the types of events PEGA is Creating Case/Updating Case/Reassign Case/Closed Case.
But there can be other types of events where external system sends events to PEGA for data update for that Case.Based on that updated data in External System PEGA will take business decision and user always wants to see the updated data of the external system in the Case.
we are displaying all the data of the external system in PEGA Case using Declare Page by calling the external web services in Thread Level by per interaction.
But What will happen when user already working on the Case means i want to mention that work is in perform or editable mode so user already lock on the Case /work object.
At that time if any event come from external system for that case how PEGA will display the updated case information to the user.how Pega will Updating Case/Reassign Case/Closed Case?
What is best way design the mentioned scenario with all types of exception handling?
Any kind of help is really appreciated....

In addition to the investigation on the optimistic locking approach ,you can also look into a couple of more ways to address the situation:
- Using Asynchronous service processing by queuing the request from the external systems. This is particularly helpful in the situations where you need to update the work object. (Refer :https://docs-previous.pega.com/data-and-integration/how-asynchronous-service-processing-works)
- For UI related data elements which you are already populating using data pages, you can make use of Async Loading of data pages and put in appropriate refresh when conditions in them based on when pxUpdateDateTime changes or other application specific properties reload the page if required.
If you are using web services to load the data the exception handling can be done at the data page level as well using the error handling block/ data transform in data pages. (Refer : https://docs-previous.pega.com/data-source-error-handling-data-pages).

In cases like this,the agent / system whomsoever will try to update the case will get an error related to locking. The best can be done is use of Optimistic locking ( Refer ; https://pdn.pega.com/about-pega-7-case-locking )
