The purpose of this section in the guide is slightly different than what is talked about in the article that Kevin mentions. The generateudf script will install the UDFs into the database (and should probably be mentioned in the guide), however, you will need to provide this script with a db username and password for it to work. Some companies have strict security policies and they do not want to supply a third party utility with database access.

This section was created to try and direct customers as to how they can install the UDFs (and their associated code) into the database manually, which is very vendor specific. The current verbiage was chosen for the time being until vendor specific instructions had been created and verified. Though, looking at it now, it is probably more vague than it needs to be.
