How can I update Obj-Browse's results?
Hi,
In my understanding, unlike Obj-Open, Obj-Browse can't acquire lock and hence, it always returns results in read only mode. Am I correct? If so, what would be most typical or standard approach to update Obj-Browse results - for example, pxResults(1)?

Hi,
Yes,obj-browse doesn't acquire the lock on results but instead used to search the class instances and retrieve the results. After obj-browse step, you can do obj-open or open-by-handle on the 1st result by acquiring the lock.

Thanks. However, retrieving instance from database one more time sounds costly. Is it the standard approach? Or, does page-copy, or Obj-Refresh-And-Lock make any better?

You can loop over the results of obj-browse operation and do obj-refresh and lock.
This will acquire the lock on the instance. And you can exit the activity at the last step or jump to later step in the loop.
Page-copy will not acquire the lock on the instance. So, it doesn't help in this scenario.
Rather Obj-Refresh and lock can be used.

Thanks. I am interested in the difference these two approaches make. Obj-Browse is read only, so before you get to the next step, someone else still may update the object in the database. The first approach, Obj-Open one more time, will get the latest object from database, but how about Obj-Refresh-And-Lock? Does it still get the latest one from database? Or, does it only acquire the lock based on the pxResults(1) on memory and it does not get the latest one from database?
If Obj-Refresh-And-Lock still goes to the database, I guess these two approaches (Obj-Open one more time and Obj-Refresh-And-Lock) don't make any difference from performance perspectives. Am I correct?
