Does Elastic search delete the data when deleting a record from DB?

We have a requirement where data for a client should be completely deleted if client wishes so.

We could delete a record from DB (WO) but will it delete the record from Pega Elastic search index?

Or will we have to re-index for it to be deleted from Elastic search?

In the test that I did, it looks like, the elastic search record was not deleted.

Could you please let me know what is the way to delete the data from Elastic search?
