pxChangeStage is not working

I am calling pxChangeStage from an activity and jumping to an alternate stage 'Completed'.

Sometimes it works perfectly, but some times we get the logged message in Pega rules as(from getworstmessage)

"Trying to save an invalid page: The change to stage is the same as the current stage"

 

Kindly suggest the solution or the issue here.

Can you compare the pyWorkPage.pxStageHistory data for the working and non-working scenarios and see if you notice anything relevant? Are you able to reproduce the error scenario often enough to trace it?
