Create a log in screen using external authentication
Hello,
I have set up a custom authentication service within pega and can't work out how I would create a login page that can use this authentication so that it allows users to use the application with the external login details.
Is there any training material that would help me configure this login screen or is there a more complex way of setting a login screen up?

Hi,
In the AuthService rule on the Custom tab there a several fields where you defined the login screen:
Initial Challenge Stream
Credential Challenge Stream
Timeout Challenge Stream
Authentication Fail stream
These will default to web-login when no value is specific.
In your login activity to display the initial or credential challenge stream you would return in a Property-Set step:
param.pyChallenge = @java("PRAuthentication.DEFAULT_CHALLENGE")
To display the authentication fail stream would be:
param.pyChallenge = @java("PRAuthentication.DEFAULT_FAIL_STREAM")

FYI: Have you thought of using something like SAML? Not sure what version you are using but our SAML authentication is very easy to use. You don't have to code anything.

Because I need to use LDAP for external authentication I have needed to use the custom authentication to use the JDNI fields. Unless of course SAML is able to encompass this type of external authentication?
Could you also point me in the direction of the property-set step you mention, I am not familiar with this yet.
