Predictive Model: Export / Import feature purpose
As part of my project , I am analysing Pega's predictive model capabilities. As part of it, I came across the following:
Export / Import feature (screenshot attached)
As per the Pega 7.3.1 help file, this feature will be used to move the Predictive model between environments.But, we can do the same by using Rule- Admin- Product rule.
I like to understand the benefits of Export/Import feature over R-A-P approach.

Correct. This project zip contains the complete machine learning project for building the predictive model(s) and the export/import can be used to transfer projects between different design time environments. The final result of such a project is a predictive model rule. Only the predictive model rules are transferred to (pre)production environments, as all other rules,

You mean, The project export and import should be done between environments like (lab,dev,sandbox)?

Exported predictive model zip has totally different format versus R-A-P, it is only used for Pega decisioning model import/export, predictive models are specific Pega Decision Hub and are NOT rules. If you expand the exported zip files you will see the difference.
