Upgrade of PRPC application with Smart Investigate

Need clarification on the upgrade,


We are planning for upgrade our application, our application use Pega Smart Investigate framework, below is the application stack

SmartInvestigateSelfService 07.11
SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.11
PegaFSIF 07.15
PegaRequirements 07.15
PegaRULES 07.10.24 (Pega 7.2)


We have below questions which need clarification for our planning for Pega upgrades. We are planning to upgrade either for Pega 7.4 or 8.1, we will take decision based upon some factors, among which below are some.

Q1:

Will SmartInvestigateSelfService 07.11 work on Pega PRPC 8.1?

Q2:

If we don’t update SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.11 to 07.31, Then SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.11 will work with Pega PRPC 7.4 version?

Q3:

Latest version SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.31 will work on Pega PRPC 8.1?

Q4:

We are using SmartInvestigateSelfService 07.11 which is built on SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.11. Now if we update to SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.31, then will SmartInvestigateSelfService 07.11 work on top of SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.31? (there is no update of SmartInvestigateSelfService 07.11 available)

“IMPORTANT: Related Pega financial services applications designed to work with Pega Smart Investigate for Payments, such as SWIFTNet Advanced E&I Rulebook, Smart Investigate for Securities, and Self-Service for Smart Investigate, have not been updated. Customers with any of these applications in their application stack should not attempt to integrate these applications with the Smart Investigate for Payments 7.31 release. Customers already running Smart Investigate for Payments with any of these applications in their application stack should not upgrade to release 7.31. Please contact Pega Global Customer Support (GCS) if you have

further questions.”

Q5:

Which Max version if FSIF (Pega Foundation of Financial Services) FW is supported for SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.31 ? FSIF 7.4 or FSIF 7.31?

Q6:

SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.31 will run on PegaFSIF 07.15 ? currently we are using PegaFSIF 07.15, and if we don’t update PegaFSIF but if we update SmartInvestigateForPayments

To 7.31, will there be any issue?

BUT, below link does not provide any documentation about SmartInvestigateForPayments ver 8.1, it gives only upto version 7.31

Q2:

If we don’t update SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.11 to 07.31, Then SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.11 will work with Pega PRPC 7.4 version? - No. PSIP 7.31 is the only version compatible with Pega 7.4 & 8.1 with hotfixes. The list can be found at https://community.pega.com/knowledgebase/articles/pega-smart-investigate-payments-hotfixes

Q3:

Latest version SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.31 will work on Pega PRPC 8.1? - Yes with hotfixes. The hotfixes page will be updated with the required hotfixes list in a day or two.

 

Q4:

We are using SmartInvestigateSelfService 07.11 which is built on SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.11. Now if we update to SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.31, then will SmartInvestigateSelfService 07.11 work on top of SmartInvestigateForPayments 07.31? (there is no update of SmartInvestigateSelfService 07.11 available) -Yes, SelfService 7.11 is made compatible with Payments 7.31 & HFix-41961 needs to be installed.

Q5:

To 7.31, will there be any issue? -  FSIF/PFFS is not in the stack of PSIP. We need to understand the usage of FSIF with PSIP.

So question is whether SmartInvestigateForPayments 8.1 has been already released or not? PSIP 8.1 is released & available for customer downloads. The documents will be made available soon.

Thanks Sheetal, for your in depth reply. I have another few question 1. The SmartInvestigateForPayments 7.11 FW which we are using, it is showing build on PegaFSIF. Please find the screenshot. Are you saying the latest version of SmartInvestigateForPayments 7.31 does not built on PegaFSIF? 2. We are also using SwiftNetEI:07-11, whether that also need to be upgraded to SwiftNetEI:7.31, in case we want to upgrade to PRPC 7.4 ? 3. SwiftNetEI:7.31 is compatible with Peg PRPC 8.1?

1. The SmartInvestigateForPayments 7.11 FW which we are using, it is showing build on PegaFSIF. Please find the screenshot.
Are you saying the latest version of SmartInvestigateForPayments 7.31 does not built on PegaFSIF? - Pega provided Smart Investigate for Payments v7.11 or v7.31 or v8.1 is not built on PegaFSIF. For further details you can check the install guide Pre-requisite & Verify the Install part which do not have any references of PegaFSIF. For PSIP 7.11, see https://community.pega.com/knowledgebase/documents/smart-investigate-payments-711-installation-guide. This may have been added for any specific purposes by customer's project team.

2. We are also using SwiftNetEI:07-11, whether that also need to be upgraded to SwiftNetEI:7.31, in case we want to upgrade to PRPC 7.4 ? - Yes. 

3. SwiftNetEI:7.31 is compatible with PegaPRPC 8.1? - Yes. As there are PSIP, E&I 8.1 versions available we would recommend to consider the latest.

Overall Summary

  1. For Pega 7.4: Self-Service 7.11+ PSIP 7.31 + SwiftNetEI 7.31. 

Self Service application HFix-41961 needs to be installed for SS 7.11 to be compatible with SIP 7.31. Additionally, the required SIP 7.31 hotfixes list can be found at https://community.pega.com/knowledgebase/articles/pega-smart-investigate-payments-hotfixes 

      2. For Pega 8.1: Self-Service 7.11+ PSIP 8.1 + SwiftNetEI 8.1

          Self Service application HFix-49594 needs to be installed for SS 7.11 to be compatible with                    SIP 8.1.
