Are you referring to Excel? If yes, have you tried with close method?

No, I don't mean excel file. we have to process x.doc, y.xls , or x.*(few file extensios) and the application we are going to automate open these files. I want to know if  we can call some script or method from openspan to close these opened files. ( just to clear : These are files are open by application and not by openspan).

All MS office files have close method. so you can use this method in the automation flow.

Note: If you terminate automation then it will close automatically all applications / documents used in the automation.

Coming to your point: If openspan is not opening applications still you can close those docs by using office connectors and passing file name, I didn't try. OR

Use script and check if any file instances are created then you can close them.
