Mimic Create Work Action
Hi,
How can I mimic the Create Work action in an event by using an activity? I want to create and display a case by using an activity on a click of a button in a portal.

I thought of using an activity instead of the OOTB because I need to create a logic wherein if the case exists, i'll open the assignment, if not, i'll create and open the case. Kindly suggest of a way to achieve this. This activity will be called from a button in a worklist.

The Create Work option calls the doUIAction activity with the action parameter set to createNewWork. Maybe you could do something similar from your activity.

Hello! I tried this and I see it creates the Work Object successfully, but it doesn't open a new tab in the portal in the same way it does when using the Create Work action from a control. I also tried calling ApplicationSetup activity before doUIAction activity but doesn't open a new tab.
Is there something else I can do to fully replicate the behavior of the Create Work action through an activity?

Hi Mariel,
You can try using the OOTB activity AddWork for this. Prior to using this activity, you should call createWorkPage activity to populate the new work page and then pass this page to the AddWork activity. The new case ID will be saved in the work page you created.
