Interrogation of Menu
Hi,
How to Interrogate menu ?
When i am trying to Interrogate i am clicking on parents navigation and after that i can't able to move control and Interrogate child.

Hi Sasnt,
I have attached the screenshot .In this I want to click on Hi Lalit and interrogate child menu like My Account .
And one more then when I am interrogating control is coming like "Hi Lalit" but if login with any other use control would "Hi Abc" in that case how we can handle ?
Control should be generic not with the value . Please provide your input.

Is this a web application or windows application? If it is a windows application, then on the parent windows form, you should be able to select Add Menu Items from the control in Object Explorer by right-clicking on it. If no menu items are found, then this is likely not supported and you'd need to find another way (like SendKeys for example). If this is a web application then you'll likely need to identify the JavaScript functions called and essentially execute those.
I do not understand your new question. Can you please include a screenshot and try to explain in more detail?

Hi Lalit,
1. Try interrogating the Menu control by selecting "select element". The control should appear as a link.
on automation you can use a performclick method or use raiseevent.
2. If "Hi Lalit" changes you can change the match rule to handle this. After interrogating share the screen shot of interrogated control, we can help modifying it.

Attaching screenshot of interrogation. Could not able to drag control fro child menu.
And Sasnt my 2nd question was when i am dragging nay control the name of control coming as same value .
What if value is got changed ?lIke in attached example "Hi Lalit" is coming as control what if i login with other user?

On a web application, these are typically JavaScript menus. I know we cover one simple example in the basic training course, but the gist is that you can examine the HTML of the page to determine what the menu option is triggering and then call that instead of trying to click the menu option. Assuming the options are actually there before the mouse hovers on them, you may be able to use the Web Controls tab in Studio to locate the control and add it to your adapter in Object Explorer.
If you are matching a control based on it's text, you'll want to be certain to update the rule to allow for that text to be different. In this case, your name is part of the text, so you want to exclude it from the match rule.
