Project - Project reference

Once you refer the CRMAdapter project from the Controller project (Main-UI), the tutorial says that i am supposed to import the referred project. I did notice that on importing, the ImportTypeMap.resx project item has the ID and the assembly name of the referred project. What is the actual necessity to import the referred project? I also noticed that the order of the build is CRMAdapter followed by Main-UI as soon as the CRMAdapter project gets referred.
