you can get exact version from PR_DATA_ADMIN_PRODUCT table, refer column PXPRODUCTVERSION
This will give you exact PRPC product version

By the way, that seems to work in Pega 7 but not 6. Here's my specific query:
SELECT pxproductversion FROM pr_data_admin_product where ROWNUM < 10
