You must create a new control to achieve the requirement.
Create a new control by Right Click on UserInterface -> Create -> Control
Goto HTML tab of the control -> uncheck auto-generated? checkbox and place below code

Save the changes and use the new control.
Once you enter the value and come out from the textbox the value will be formatted as per the requirement.

By using the above code snippet does it change the length of the field?
For ex: i have a credit card number field in which i have to give space after 4 digits the total digits are 16 so even after if we include the spaces does it come under count as 19?
if yes please share any other approach
