Microsoft released Windows 10 updates that can affect Pega Robotic Automation developers
See reply below for updated information.
Microsoft released updates to the following versions of Windows and inadvertently introduced a .NET issue. This issue can cause Microsoft Visual Studio to crash when you dock and undock panels, like the Property Grid or Object Explorer. While this issue is not directly related to Pega Robotic Automation, it can affect developers who are building robotic automations using Pega Robot Studio or the Pega Robot Studio plug-in with Microsoft Visual Studio 2015.
Note: Pega Robot Runtime users are not affected.
No fix is yet available for the following versions of Windows:
- Windows 10 version 20h2 (KB 4601050)
- Windows 10 version 2004 (KB 4601050)
For the following versions of Windows, be sure to install the associated fix:
- Windows 10 version 1909 – The issue was introduced in KB 4601050 and fixed in KB 4601556.
- Windows 10 version 1809 – The issue was introduced in KB 4601055 and fixed in KB 4601555.
- Windows 10 version 1809 (.NET 4.8) – The issue was introduced in KB 4601887 and fixed in KB 4601555.
- Windows 10 version 1809 (.NET 4.7.2) – The issue was introduced in KB 4601887 and fixed in KB 4601558.
This table lists the most recent versions of Windows 10. Other Windows versions are also affected. For more information, see .NET Framework Denial of Service Vulnerability.
We are following this issue and will update this question with additional information as needed. Until then, apply the appropriate fix for your version of Windows if one is available. If not, do not apply the Windows KB 4601050 update. If you have already applied the Windows KB 4601050 update, we recommend that you uninstall this update.
