Ask the Expert - Pega Predictive Diagnostic Cloud with Andy Werden
Join @WERDA in this edition of Ask the Expert on Pega Predictive Diagnostic Cloud, July 23 - Aug 3.
Meet Andy Werden: Andy is a seasoned subject matter expert on PRPC performance, operations and scalability. Prior to joining the product management team in 2017, he managed and lead the technical consulting practice for the Americas. In his spare time he is a really slow runner, a bad biker, a seriously sad swimmer and a terrible triathlete. Andy is an exiled New Yorker who lives as a pseudo-southerner in Chapel Hill NC, where he pretends to passionately follow college basketball (Go Tarheels!).
Message from Andy Werden: Happy to have the opportunity to help you use PDC to keep tabs on system performance and quality and drive you continuous improvement governance process. I look forward to getting feedback on how PDC is working for you and how we can continue to make the PDC service better.

Hello Andy,
PDC is the really marvelous tool for Pega product. My question is regarding new features around database statistics in PDC. Our Customer would like to know if PDC can present active SQL queries for given environment?
Regards,
Jakub

PDC Enterprise harness now has a tab to display current database activity. We have written new rules to run on monitored systems to periodically send PDC Postgres database activity, query statistics and table statistics. The new rules are in beta and will be released as a hotfix for 73 and 74 soon, and we will then work on comparable features for Oracle databases.
The new rules are also going to send PDC agent status, listener status, queue status, node information and configuration and hotfix status.

Is there an easier way to get to PDC - the PDC URL's are really long and complicated

Thanks for asking :-)
We are working on Community , PDC and Pega Support Integration.
If you are a support contact (authorized to enter support requests) , you can (or will - got to chase some bugs) navigate to PDC and automatically sign in from the community support page using your community / PegaSupport user (typically email) and password.
Go to https://community.pega.com/support and scroll down to the Support Quick Links
If you are a partner or other party who is a support contact for more than one account, if you click the PDC Quick Link you will get a menu of PDC SSO Links.
There are some customers who use more than one PDC tenant for the same support account (perhaps you both on-premise and PegaCloud deployments) - you will get a link menu too.

btw - there was an assumption that "Event Viewer" would replace "Recent Alerts" since it has lots of filtering options and you can select the time range. What do you do with "Recent Alerts" report that make it better for you than the Event Viewer"

it's easier to just see the summary from the recent report instead of filtering it on event viewer when we suddenly have bad performance issue.
event viewer is good when we knew what we want to monitor live .

what is the process to request soap username/password? Additionally is there a test harness for the PDC soap api? We're going to leverage it via an api gateway
Pegasystems Inc.

By default the messages to send data from managed systems to PDC are encrypted but not authenticated. They are a one-way "API" - data goes it; data does not come back. Please elaborate on the use case and need for setting a user ID and Password

PDC 1.55 will roll out later today / tomorrow. This week's enhancements to PDC include
- The case ID has been added to the event viewer and you may filter by case ID. This makes it very easy to assess if a specific issue has impacted system or is frequently occurring in a time range.
- Event viewer filters have been improved. You do not need to re-enter your filters when you refresh data.
- The Action item now has an Impact Summary on the Overview to show the priority, impacted applications and requestor types and week-to-week statistics at a glance in one place.
