Inflight cases are the cases that are open (not resolved) in production. While making any changes to flow or case design, careful consideration needs to be made so that these open cases in production are not impacted.

There is no specific configuration for inflight cases .. usually inflight cases are the cases that already created and are open  before our changes are made to the case type/ flow . 

for example , on the first version you created a case type with some custom status on each stage, and created the cases .. and now you changed the status based on some naming convention  . So what ever the cases that were created before this change will be called as inflight cases .

in real time we will write one time activities / circumstancing to apply our changes to inflight cases.
