The Chromium Project has announced that as early as June 2024, Manifest V2 (MV2) extensions will be automatically disabled and you will no longer be able to install Manifest V2 extensions from the Chrome Web Store unless you enable the ExtensionManifestV2Availability registry setting. This setting allows MV2 extensions to continue to work, but only temporarily. By June of 2025, the Chromium Project plans to permanently disable MV2 extensions. The planned release of Pega Robot Studio 24.1 coincides with the corresponding deprecation of version 19.1. After Pega Robot Studio is released, Pega Robot Studio 19.1 will move to extended support, and extended support for 19.1 will end three months later. Most Pega Robot Studio customers are already using version 22.1, but if you are still using Pega Robot Studio 19.1, we recommend that you migrate to version 22.1 as soon as possible and start enjoying all the new features. Pega Robot Studio 22.1 is a complete redesign that no longer requires Microsoft Visual Studio. The new, proprietary interface streamlines the process of creating automations. We have also greatly enhanced testing. For example, you can now test your automations directly from the Robot Studio automation surface. Keep in mind that the Pega Browser Extension (PBE) component, included in all Pega Robot Studio and Pega Robot Runtime version 22.1 builds, already ensures that the Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browser extensions comply with the Chromium Project Manifest V3 specification.

If you have migrated your version 19.1 solution to use the Pega Browser Extension (PBE), then you are no longer using an MV2 extension. If you haven’t, then you are using an MV2 extension and the MV2 dates apply to you. For more information about PBE, see PBE frequently asked questions.
