Symptom

• After configuring Pega Platform 8.1.1 and Pega Platform 8.2 to connect to an AES 7.3 server, AES remote server error is thrown.
• After configuring Pega Platform 8.3.1 to connect to an AES 8 server, AES remote server error is thrown.
• On updating Pega Platform 8.3.1 to Pega Platform 8.3.6, AES remote server error is thrown.

Error

Rule-Connect-REST:The service URL <URL-of-service> does not start with a protocol and hostname

Explanation

A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment. Pega Platform 8.x.x is configured to connect to Predictive Diagnostic Cloud (PDC), but not Autonomic Event Services (AES). The PDC extensions rely on REST services to be set. However, these are not present in the AES. Consequently, unnecessary agents are enabled.

Environments

The problem was reported in the following environments:

• Pega Platform™ 8.1.1 on-premises
• Pega Platform 8.3.1 on-premises
• Pega Platform 8.3.6 on-premises
• Pega Platform 8.6.1 on Client Cloud

Solution

Perform the following local change:

1. Enable only the below agents in the Agent Schedule:
   1. Initialize Health Information
   2. Push DB Indexes Information
   3. Push Guardrail Data Information
   4. Push Daily Log Usage Data Information
2. Disable all other PegaAESRemote agents.
