Validate the application using Backend API / Tools

Is there a way where we can validate the sanity of the Pega Platform or its features (Search, Landing Page, etc) using back-end API or tools like prpcutils without having the access to the Designer Studio ?

Thank You. A few questions :
i) Does this require designer studio access or can be it completely done via the DB ? (Assuming i have complete access to the DB & SSH to app servers and no access credentials to the DS)
ii) Assuming it is possible to do it only via the DB / app servers, does it require any special configurations to be setup to enable these or are they provided by default OOTB
iii) Does this have APIs available to check the status of the system or specific functionalities like Search, DSM Landing Page Status, etc

i) no direct DB access, this requires a running Pega instance (app server).
ii) All OOTB, check Pega Admin Studio APIs link.
iii) Not search as far as I know, DSM landing page status is available in the latest Pega 8.3.
Note: Admin Studio is only available since Pega 8.x, so another reason to upgrade to take advantage.
