Upgrading PEGA platform from 8.5.1 to '23 and also database conversion from DB2 to ORACLE

Hi support team,

 

We now have to upgrade from PEGA platform 8.5.1 to '23 (latest version) and have to migrate from DB2 to ORACLE because PEGA deprecated DB2 since version '23.

Could you please provide best approach/best practices/steps to achieve this for both Data migration from DB2 to Oracle and upgrade procedure ?

For your information,

- We deployed PEGA on IBM WebSphere on Linux VM and have multiple nodes

- Current database is IBM DB2 11.1 and will change to Oracle 19c

Hello, 

Infinity migration involves lots of changes. I would suggest you to first perform DB migration to Oracle in your current PEGA version and then making sure it works fine.

Then you can focus on PEGA upgrade and VM migrations to containers.

Thank you, so I'll separate into 2 main steps:

1. DB migration from DB2 to ORACLE in current version and make sure it's working.

2. Upgrade PEGA to latest version

 

For step 1, Could you please suggest us on how to implement? I can think of 2 approaches but I'm not sure it's working or not, as:

Solution 1: Just do DB migration and use same data source (we use JNDI in IBM WebSphere) by configuration in WebSphere, as we delete and add new data source with same name but the JNDIs points to migrated ORACLE DB instead.

 

Solution 2: Install fresh PEGA and choose ORACLE in installation and then export RAPs from our current PEGA and then import to fresh PEGA. After that, do DB migration for the rest.

 

Solution 3: (Please suggest us)
