Upgrade PRPC 5.x to Pega 7.x -- directly to 7 or upgrade to 6.x versions first and then to 7.x?
Hi,
We are aiming to plan to upgrade systems running on PRPC 5.x version to Pega 7.x. Currently, the planning is at feasibility phase.
Is the upgrade possible directly or should an intermediate upgrade required to any of the 6.x versions first and then jump to 7.x?
Also, any help in pointing me to the right resources on obtaining details on the supported environments is greatly appreciated.

Hi Anil,
We recently did an upgrade from pega 5.5 to 7.1 for 14 application at a time and also oracle 10g to 11g and also websphere to Tomcat and it went smooth. So you can go ahead with direct upgrade. The lesser the custom code the smoother the upgrade .
Few points to be noted-
- If you are application have custom HTML content written and opt for a UI specialist also because the fixed portal didn't work smooth for us.
- Consider changing all environment variable to be converted to DSS.
- Some controls don't work as expected so consider changing them to OOTB 7.1 control .
- Include a person with JS knowledge in your team it will be very helpful if custom control or any custom JS files written.
