The recommended method is to call PerformClick on some control on the page that takes you to the prior page. If you truly need to use the "back button" in IE then there are three ways;

1. Each web page you interrogate has a Navigate method. You can supply it the previous URL and it will take you to that URL.

2. Interrogate the Back button of the IE Window.

3. You can interrogate the WebBrowser control and use it (this is challenging for a new user and not recommended for general use).

To interrogate the WebBrowser control;

1. Disable the IgnoreMainBrowser property of the adapter.
2. Start Interrogation
3. Navigate to a page that you have not yet interrogated within your adapter (pega.com for example).
4. Un-check "Create Global web page" from the Interrogation form.
5. Interrogate something on the page (we'll delete it anyway so it doesn't matter).
6. In the hierarchy in Object Explorer, you should see a control named WebBrowser.
7. Assuming everything else in the adapter was interrogated with "Create Global web page" checked, you may delete everything from beneath the WebBrowser control.
8. Alter the match rules above this control so that they match on any page (usually the WindowText match rules are OK to delete entirely and you should match this control wherever you navigate to).
9. In your automation, you can call the GoBack method of the WebBrowser control to go to the prior history item.
