Is there a simple method to reference binary image files in Constellation?

I've come across a few comments suggesting it's possible, but none seem to offer a concrete solution. 

Most articles indicate that image sources can only be referenced via the browser.

Would love to hear your thoughts or any workarounds you've come across.
