Significance of using # before a variable in dynamic layout title
Section pzSelectivePreviewLayoutGroupTemplate has the header as #formatname configured, this section is used in the skin rule.
What does #formatname mean? Any thoughts.

In right panel for preview using Live-UI tool , search for the harness "pzSelectivePreview" being used.
Open the harness.It is referring a non-auto-generated section "pzSelectivePreview" where based on format selected respective template is selected and also all occurances of #formatname" is replaced with the selected format name.
For layout group it is going to last else block-

The container title that you are speaking of is a normal text.
It's not a variable or a property. (I believe you are considering the "formatname" is some property. Please correct me if my presumption is wrong).
It's just a normal text which implies the header title of your layout. The text could be anything ("abc","testing").
