Second java process running under 8.3

We have started up a new instance of Pega (8.3) in our dev environment. Our older instances (running under 7.2.1) only have one process running. Under 8.3 there appears to be a child process spun up by the main jvm. I have attached a file. Is this normal/expected? What is the process? I'm not a java expert and am not sure how to tell. Stream process perhaps?

It appears to be a Kafka instance.  If you don't get any further details here with your post, I would suggest opening an SR to get more details.
