Reasonable system architecture to manage RDA-involved desktops
Hi. One of our customer is asking us on how IT can manage the environment that has many RDA-involved desktops, not RPA.
Do we have any best practices on how the system architecture should be to apply patches, to deploy new automation definitions to each desktop, to gather logs output by Runtime, to troubleshoot errors on each desktop, etc.?
The customer is now thinking of using a virtualization technology such as VMware ThinApp (fullclone mode) to achieve the centralized management. It it a reasonable approach in perspective of risk tolerance, high availability, ease of maintenance, etc.?

RDA involves a user present at each desktop. How do they currently manage desktops would be my first question?
Research the Automation Deployment Portal. The Automation Deployment Portal provides a way of updating the automation solutions that are in use at the desktops and allows you to control logging at each desktop. Research the Automation Updater application as well. The Automation Updater runs locally on each machine and allows updates to the core runtime software to be pushed to the desktop by the Automation Deployment Portal.
Gathering logs can be handled by your solutions. Generally a Report Problem option is made available which collects a problem description and places the logs in a central location.
Troubleshooting is as always solution specific. How you manage that will be determine by what the issue is.
