Problem in getting control back from third party website to pega portal ( tab layout)

we have used tab layout in portal. we have a button in an assignment ( suppose assignment is opened in tab 1 ) and on click of this button we are opening third party website in new tab ( i.e. tab 2 ) . when we submit this third party website it is opening entire pega portal inside tab 2. what we need is that the control come back to the case (assignment ) and not to the pega portal. Is there any way we can implement this feature. please let me know.

configuration used on click of button - run activity ( call closeworkitem) , harness ( new document)

Hi

How the button in the third party app configured? Is it using PEGA or some other script?

If it is an OOTB Button then try calling close function to close the tab.
