Alternative of Tabbed Group Layout on Pega 8
Hi,
I understand that layout group has been deprecated in Pega 8 but can someone advise how can achieve similar behaviour (where I can open work object on multiple tabs and limit the number of tabs as well) on Pega 8. I could see below. below link on collaboration centre but don't see any alternative here. Rather the accepted solution is to copy existing section in tabbed group layout and then modify accordingly:--

However I want to use new feature to achieve the same behaviour. I could see Pega 8 itself using Tabbed group layout in the dev studio portal as shown in the attached screenshot.

Hi,
Kindly see the following if it provides some help.
Go to configure -> User Interface -> Gallery -> UI Elements
In Legacy Components we have Tab. If we click on it we can see its recommendations and design time configurations.
Similarly we can see for other components also and configure according to our requirements

In legacy layout also it's using tabbed group layout but since this is already deprecated now and may not be used in the upcoming Pega version (also not visible on UI panel, so you have to do save-as from existing rule to use tabbed group layout), I was curious if the same functionality can be achieved using new UI features. I can see dynamic container has an option to limit the number of pages but it doesn't work in the same way.

Open pxHorizontalTop section and change final to available
It will have 3 tabs.Open the tabs ,remove the exsisting section and a section from baseclass (we can change this later) ,this is done to ensure that a save as into the work classes do not throw errors
Once you have changed all the sections into ones in the baseclass
Save as it with a different name into your desired work class and then add the required sections after removing the baseclass section

I understand you are talking about saving existing rule which was already using Tabbed group. But since this is deprecated, I was more interested in achieving the same functionality using non-deprecated rule, if any?

The new UI element that works like Tabbed layout is group layout.
You can further check it here
Configure > User Interface > Gallery > UI Elements

Could you please confirm if layout group has option to limit the number of tabs like tabbed group layout? Because I can't see that or may be I am looking at wrong place.

Hi Anand,
do you want dynamic tabbed group or fine with static tabs?
If you are fine with static tabs
Then you can do following stuff
1) add layout group (Select General->Display Type- Tab)
2) add different section(nothing but tabs)
It will look like tabbed group

Hi Pooja, Thanks for the reply! I wanted dynamic tabs and this could have been achieved using Tabbed group earlier but not sure how to achieve this using Layout Group.
