Pega upgrade from Pega V8.3 to V8.7 infra (LB) setup
Hi Pega Team,
We are planning for Pega upgrade from Pega V8.3 to V8.7 for that better performance and High availabity we got suggestion form pega system to upgrade infrastructure (already received infra estimation from pega system).
In current infra (attached in below) we have below setup
a. Users traffic reached to Pega using Web LB,then web tier to App tier .
b.Web tier to app tier one to one VM mapping
Now looking from pega system to confirm below queries
1. How application load balancer (ALB) can be setup for pega ? 2. Can PEGA worked with Citrix Load Balancer (LB) ? 3. Can PEGA listen at port 80/443 for cookie-based stickiness ?

@SPSUJITMCA Based on my understanding of the questions:
1. How application load balancer (ALB) can be setup for pega ?
-> If referring to AWS ALB, can route the traffic based on path. For path use /prweb
2. Can PEGA worked with Citrix Load Balancer (LB) ?
-> Any loadbalancer should work with Pega, given it supports session affinity.
3. Can PEGA listen at port 80/443 for cookie-based stickiness ?
->Pega uses the port of application server, where it is deployed. Based on requirement and port can be changed.
->cookie-based stickiness is managed at Loadbalancer level.

@SuhasKumar I am coming to my first question ,
If you are looked at attachment, currently users request coming through web Load Balancer and we have 2 web server and users request having one to one mapping with 2 app server ,Now we got hardware estimation from pega and we have to extend 4 app servers so wanted to confirm with Pega system recommendation
Is it ideal to have 4 web servers mapped to 4 app servers ?
AND
if possible how to use app load balancer in between ,is it ideal infra setup for pega ?

@SPSUJITMCA Why web servers are used between application server and Loadbalancer ? Loadbalancer can distribute traffic to application servers directly.
However if web servers are required , then introducing a Loadbalancer between web server and application server is recommended. Adding additional Loadbalancer helps to increases fault tolerance compared to one to one mapping of nodes.

We got some infra estimation form Pega but in estimation sheet its not mention we need all new VM or within same VM we can crate multiple Node to set up stream Node .
Can anyone confirm what is best way
We have to create take multiple VM or we can go with same VM multiple Node ?

@SPSUJITMCA Having multiple VM is beneficial as it improves redundancy and fault tolerance of the system.
