Pega Infinity 8.3 personal edition
I am new to the Pega application and am working my way through the Architect Essentials course. I have downloaded and successfully installed the Pega Infinity 8.3 personal edition, but what do I do now? I can't find documentation or instructions for configuring users, building applications, etc. Is there any kind of reference for using the personal edition as a learning platform?

If you have not yet created any operators, log in to the Pega Platform instance with the operator ID "Administrator@pega.com" and the password "install".
Personal edition will be completely fresh and will not have any inbuilt applications. You can build your own application from scratch or if you have any existing application, you can import the RAP file and you can open that application with its operator ID's and passwords.
Thanks for the info. I already have personal edition installed. I need to know how to create users and configure the platform so I can use it to build new applications and cases, etc. I see that I can invite users to my applications, but I want to create a local user for myself. I tried sending myself an invitation, but there was no password included in the received email, so it appears this invite system only works for users already configured in the system. Sooo, I can't build an application unless I have a user, because Administrator cannot create apps.

While you create a new application it asks to add users as shown below.
You can add the test email like test@test
Once you click on add user, it automatically adds a default password as shown above. You can add as many users as needed like this. Once you are done click go to app and login with the credentials EX: test@test is username and password will be the generated one. Once you submit it will prompt you to change password. Then you can enter the password you need and you can login to the application.
