Pega 7.2.1 - Report Definitions - What is the maximum number of columns that can be defined in report definitions?

Hi all,

I would like to know what is the maximum number of columns that can be retrieved in report definitions.

Client is looking to have 57 columns in a report. The idea is we will provide as report and they will download it in excel to work on it further.

As far as the number of records retrieved from DB - may not cross more than 1000.

Also, for many columns we need to use quite-a-few sub-reports (10 or more sub-reports) to retrieve different columns from various index tables.

Do we have any known limitations to implement the above? or What is the best way to approach this requirement?

Any help or pointers would be awesome.

Hi Srividhya,
Hope you are doing great!!

I am not sure if there upper limit to the number of columns, but you can surely create 57 columns.
However I would not suggest so and would instead insists to think another method to achieve this.

You may try BIX extract or simplify Data models as having 57 columns and then multiple subreports for multiple of them may not be the best idea.

Thanks for your great reply.

My client will not be willing to pay for BIX add on.

Reason:

This report is not used frequently - used only during November every year and only two or at the max of three users  will have the access to this report.

Those users will extract the report once a week in this period.

Hi Srividhya, 

we have created a report with over 250 columns (it's a customer request). 

For sure, for complex reports would be better use BIX.

We understand that there are no defined number of columns in a report.We have gone ahead by creating as many columns as required in the report. We didn't face any issues in performance, as the reports are not used frequently.
