OOTB REST API TO CREATE DOES NOT PARSE NEW LINE CHARACTERS

Hi - I am using OOTB REST API to create case. one of the attribute on my json runs to multiple lines. If that attribute is single line, case creation works. but if INCOMING json attribute runs to multiple lines with line breaks/new line character, I get an error. 

I am using pega 8.3.0.

Options tried: - I set the following and restarted - still does not work. 

Create a new DSS as below: Purpose: json/escapeSpecialCharacters  Owning Ruleset: Pega-IntSvcs  Value: true

Any hot fixes to be added?
