To remove the error, edit the file C:\Windows\System32\driver\etc\hosts defining “vapp” as IP address of the virtual machine. This address is shown on the console window at start up. Keep in mind the ipaddress may change if you restart the machine in which case you will have to remap to a new ip address.

Hi ADAIJ,
I tried defining vapp as IP address. But still getting below error:
Exception caught connecting to email server; java.net.UnknownHostException: vapp: vapp: unknown error
*Check the snap of the hosts file.

Xnay that. You have to map vapp from the virtual box to the local machine (not ther other ay around as I incorrectly guided you before.) In order to do this, edit the hosts file (/etc/hosts) in the virtual box and add in an entry for vapp to the local loopback mapping. The line should read as follows:
Proprietary information hidden vapp localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
After editing, you can test by pinging vapp from within the console.

Proprietary information hidden vapp localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
Works,
Would someone please explain why adding the vapp works?

Do we need any other setting apart from editing host file?
This is not working for me even after adding above line in host file. I am not able to ping to smtp server as well
When i ping to vapp it gives me Proprietary information hidden
any pointer to do email connectivity?

vapp is the hostname of the linux host. Putting vapp in the hosts file allows prpc to resolve the ipaddress. It looks like there is a problem resolving the hostname automatically perhaps due to a coding error however this does solve the problem.

Hi everyone. I am using MAC OS. I have gone through the imore article as well.
But still, I am seeing the error
Couldn't find current host name;
java.net.UnknownHostException: vapp: vapp: unknown error (Screenshot below)
Note: I am able to ping vapp
Can someone please suggest me the right virtualbox network settings. I am currently using host-only network adapter. (Screenshot below)
I am concerned with the network setting as I am also not able to connect to the database through db visualiser.
