Need some background on how XL Deploy work with Pega 7
Hi,
Can anyone give me some idea on how L Deploy work with Pega 7? I need below information:
- Is it possible to integrate XL Deploy with Pega 7? If Yes, is there any restriction?
- What are the resources we will require to implement it end to end
- How much time it requires to complete the implementation (From scratch till end). For our client, 2 weeks is preferred. Is that possible?
- What are the steps (Step by Step) that we have to perform as a part of this?
- Is there any better approach available in pega (inbuilt which comes with the product) for automated deployment?
- After configuration is ready for XL Deploy, what are things that we have to do to complete the import in different environments?
- Any rollback / Error tracking / Repository services are available in this process?

Hi Abhilash,
XL Deploy is a third-party deployment tool similar to Jenkins and we don’t have any reference or documentation available in Pega to provide any sort of help.
I worked on Jenkins, however since I dealt with one of the issues with XL deploy, I can just answer few of your basic queries.
Q 1 & 2 : Yes, you can integrate a tool like XL deploy with Pega by using prpcUtils or prpcServiceUtils (Rest API) .
Q4: Unlike Jenkins, there is no documentation available for XL deploy. I just saw one of the partners using XL deploy to import & export raps on their 7.1.6 version.
Q5. Would recommend Jenkins over XL deploy, as there is a fair amount of documentation available for Jenkins. And a majority of the Pega community has implemented Jenkins.

Thanks for the response, our client is already using XL deploy as deployment tool and want us to use the same with pega deployments.
Any one in forum who have implemented CI/CD with XL deploy please help on this.
