Deployment process in Pega deployment manager
Hi All,
I am trying to install deployment manager 5.4 in pega 8.6.2. I have gone through manay articles about PDM and got some knowledge. Post setup of PDM, What are the prerequisites before click on start deployment in PDM? What happens in the background when we click on Start deployment?
Any leads would be appreciated.

I have made changes and merged. How do we tell to Deployment manager to move only those changes? Do we need to create product rule and include respective ruleset versions and data instances? If yes, Do we need to create in latest ruleset version?

@VinodBavandla We recommend you create a product rule which packages the application and configure that product rule in the deployment pipeline. This is on one of our FAQ's here: https://docs-previous.pega.com/devops/86/application-structure-and-configuration

@konda Thank you for response.
While creating new deployment pipeline in PDM it asks for the product file name. We have to maintain product rule in application with the same name. Then this perticular product rule picked by PDM and initiate deployment process, Is my understanding correct?

@VinodBavandla Yes, that is correct. The product rule specified in the pipeline is used for deployment.

We are planning to use Microsoft Azure as repository. Could you please share information on how to setup it from Azure side. I know how to configure in Pega.

If the setup of pipelines(both orchestrator & candidate environments) is complete and pipelines diagnostics is all green then you are good to start deployments for the pipeline.
When you start a deployment, the tasks defined in the pipeline start getting executed. A job scheduler running in the background starts picking up the tasks and delegates them to candidates and the pipeline moves further based on the status from candidate for that task.
